About Us
Background
Born as a simple dream of possibility, the Royal Heritage Academy (RHA) first opened its doors on the 9th of January 2006. The school was built with the intention of introducing a competitive, Christian learning institution. Founded by Peter and N’datsika Masi, RHA embarked on a journey of training children holistically and has since produced graduates from their primary school that have proved to be excellent in many high schools.
Today, the possibility is a reality that thrives; RHA now owns land on which its campus sits and from where education is offered, standing as a giant institution, offering quality education.
Vision
We envisage talented, socially skilled, spiritually upright, and healthy citizens who are innovative in their chosen careers.
Mission
To nurture talent and develop academically excellent and socially skilled students who are hungry for knowledge. We endeavor to achieve this in Malawi through a Christ-based curriculum that trains the whole child and educated staff who focus on students as individuals, working cooperatively with parents. Our learning space is kept clean, safe, and mentally stimulating for the students.
Values
We have five core values, Excellence, Professionalism, Love, Integrity, and Togetherness (ExPLoITs). We strive at being outstanding (excellent), competent, presentable, punctual, and approachable (Professionalism). Also honoring God and caring for others is of utmost priority (Love) together with being trustworthy (Integrity). All this, however, cannot be achieved if we do not work as a unit, irrespective of our backgrounds (Togetherness).
Our Staff
We have a professional team of staff with sound character, Christian values, and strong interpersonal communication skills.
Our teachers meet the standard requirement of the Ministry of education. Each of these has a minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college. Interviews are held to ensure a fair recruitment process and assessment of applicants is done by management.
School Management & Administration
In order to manage the affairs of the school effectively, a Board of Directors, a Principal and Coordinators work together. The Board of Directors provides visionary, technical and legal direction.
The Principal is supported by functional coordinators from upper and lower primary school, and kindergarten. These coordinators work hand in hand with teachers of respective classes. Each class comprises a teacher, a teaching assistant and a child minder.
We have a Parent-Teacher Association, which consists of a committee that is elected every two years. This serves as a channel to allow sharing of concerns parents have and also provide our feedback to such. This helps in creating better service delivery and ensuring standards are maintained at the highest level possible.
We also have a student council that was set up to model what a good student must be. This council consists of a head boy and head girl, their deputies, and two stewards. Such learners have admirable character that inspire others.
Covid 19 Response Committee
To tackle the growing burden of the COVID-19 pandemic, RHA came up with a response committee. This committee consists of parents who have children at the school and that work in the health sector and members of staff from the Royal Heritage academy.
The committee has helped us in setting up hand washing stations, temperature checkpoints, and a response protocol in the event of a suspected case on campus among other interventions. Hand-washing with soap at critical times, sanitizing and face mask wearing is normalized.
